Sofia’s Theatre 199 is a place where you can enjoy the talent of the most prominent Bulgarian artists and experience memorable moments of meeting the theatrical magic.

Since December 2007 the name ot the theater was changed to “Theatre 199 Valentin Stoichev”

Valentin Stoichev was director of Theatre 199 from 1991 until when he suddenly passed away in July 2007. Stoichev was born in Rousse and studied science of dramatic art at Sofia’s National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts (NATFIZ). Under his 16-year leadership, Theatre 199 became one of the most prominent theatres in Bulgaria. In 2006, the Bulgarian Union of Actors awarded Stoichev the Ikar award for Most Successful Season.
